This workshop will consider loss and grief from the perspective and needs of grieving adolescents.  Young people have different needs to adults when they experience loss therefore family members/care givers/teachers and other significant others need to be sensitive to these needs. The workshop will explore the theoretical stages of adolescence and a range of support strategies that can be utlised to help grieving adolescents


 At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:


    Understand grief and loss theory as it impacts upon the lives of adolescents.
    Identify the impact and developmental needs of grieving adolescents.
    Identify effective strategies when providing support to grieving adolescent

Presenter Profiles

Jackie Tarabay
Jackie Tarabay is a Certified Bereavement Counsellor specializing in working with children who have experienced grief and loss. Jackie holds a Bachelor of Counselling, a Masters Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP), a Diploma of Shamanic Studies and has further studies in a host of other areas including psychotherapy, grief and loss, drama and personal development.

Currently, Jackie works at the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement (ACGB), coordinating various grief support groups including facilitating the Kids Grieve Too (KG2) program. Jackie also provides individual grief counselling
, supervision, and delivers training and workshops for the ACGB. In addition, Jackie also operates her own personal counselling practice.




Bianca Lavorgna
Bianca is a Specialist Bereavement Counsellor at the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement with responsibilities for support groups, provision of supervision to volunteers, and delivery of education and training. She has extensive counselling, group work and educational experience, with expertise in the development, delivery and coordination of support services and programs. Bianca also comes with specialist knowledge and experience in working with children and adolescents with an interest in companion animal loss. Bianca has Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Australian College of Applied Psychology and a Graduate Qualification in Bereavement Counselling from the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.
Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs. 
No registration refunds will be made after this date. Please note:
The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
