Every three years, the global leaders in death, dying and bereavement and experts in various death-related disciplines meet at the International Conference on Grief and Bereavement in Contemporary Society (ICGBS). The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement had planned to host the 12th meeting of the ICGBS in Melbourne this coming July and as a result of COVID-19 we made the difficult decision to cancel this international conference.
We are delighted to announce that each of our keynote speakers will be presenting a webinar during the week of July 13-17 2020. Each will be comprised of a 70-minute presentation and a 20-minute opportunity for Q&A. This webinar series will provide participants throughout the world with an opportunity for knowledge exchange and skill sharing. In addition, we are proceeding with a special edition of the journal Grief Matters: The Australian Journal of Grief and Bereavement, which will feature the work of many of our keynote speakers.
The webinar programme and topics:
13 July - Dr. Robert Neimeyer - Intervening in meaning: New directions in grief therapy
14 July - Dr. Phyllis Kosminsky - Attachment and loss: From practice to theory and back again
15 July - Dr. Paul Boelen - Emotional problems after traumatic bereavement: Nature, correlates and treatment
16 July - Dr. Sheldon Solomon - The worm in the core: On the role of death in life
