Grief Lecture 2016: Remembering Sophie

Grief Lecture 2016: Remembering Sophie
Type: Annual Grief Lecture
Location: Melbourne, Victoria
Presenter: Justine and Brendon Schultz, Kath McIntyre

The Grief Lecture 2016 is proudly sponsored by Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust

Overview

One family’s deeply personal story of loss, grief and hope.

Justine and Brendon Schulz’s 18-month-old daughter Sophie died in a tragic accident.

Justine went to a massage appointment and took the kids with her. The massage therapist lowered the table not realising Sophie had crawled underneath moments before. What happened next was every parent’s nightmare: Sophie died instantly. When a SafeWork SA investigation was abandoned, adding anger and frustration to their grief, Justine and Brendon fought for a coronial inquest.

Those attending the Grief Lecture will hear the Schulz’s heartbreaking story firsthand.

The lecture will begin with a screening of the documentary Remembering Sophie (30 mins), followed by a discussion with Justine and Brendon and documentary director Kath McIntyre. The lecture will conclude with an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session.
