22264VIC Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling and Intervention

The 22264VIC Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling and Intervention (GCBCI) is a highly sought-after qualification and can open doors to a wide array of employment opportunities in environments including schools, hospitals, palliative care services, the corporate sector and community health settings.
This qualification can assist you in securing the jobs you want. Eighty per cent of our graduates have found employment as bereavement counsellors within twelve months of graduation and the remaining twenty per cent work part-time in the field.
This course provides practitioners with the education and skills required to become effective bereavement counsellors. Accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, the GCBCI is the only post-graduate program in Australia solely dedicated to the vocational training of bereavement counsellors.

This two day course will allow participants to trial the 22264VIC Graduate Certificate by completing Unit 1: VU21583 Apply concepts of grief and bereavement.

If you wish to continue to complete the 22264VIC Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling and Intervention unit 1 to apply to complete the course, you will need to complete the assessment. Assessments are due by Friday November 30th at 5:00pm.

To undertake the 22264VIC GCBCI, you MUST have one of the following experience and qualifications:

Minimum 3 - 5 years experience: Social Work, Psychology, Pastoral Care, Counselling, General Practice

Minimum 10 years experience: Palliative Care Nursing

Once you complete this unit you will need to complete the course application form, to which your application form will be assessed ensuring you meet the course criteria for enrolment within the course.

Unit 1 Overview: VU21583 Apply concepts of grief and bereavement

Aim
This unit provides a background to grief and bereavement and provides the learner with an understanding of the concepts and processes of grief and bereavement. In the context of bereavement being a universal response to loss, this module also explores both common and atypical reactions to bereavement.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

Analyse and evaluate the role and context of bereavement counselling
Analyse the processes for working with responses to grief and bereavement
Evaluate the values and ethics associated with bereavement counselling.

The Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling and Intervention (22264VIC) is accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

Trainer Bio: Jackie Tarabay

Jackie Tarabay is a Certified Bereavement Counsellor specializing in working with children who have experienced grief and loss. Jackie holds a Bachelor of Counselling, a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP), a Diploma of Shamanic Studies and has further studies in a host of other areas including psychotherapy, grief and loss, drama and personal development.

Jackie works at the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement (ACGB), coordinating various grief support groups including facilitating the Kids Grieve Too (KG2) program. Jackie also provides individual grief counselling, supervision, and delivers training and workshops for the ACGB. In addition, Jackie also operates her own personal counselling practice.

Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm

Catering: There is no catering provided for the Graduate Certificate Program, however there will be break times allocated for participants to either buy something to eat at a nearby cafe, or there are fridge facilities at the Centre if you'd prefer to bring and store your own lunch.

Price

Total cost for both days: $680.00*

*This is the cost for Unit 1, therefore, if you choose to, and are successful in continuing on with the remainder of the 22264VIC GCBCI, this amount will be deducted from the remainder of your course fees.
                   
Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.

Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs.

No registration refunds will be made after this date.

Please note: The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
