Supporting the Bereaved and Grieving Adolescent

Supporting the Bereaved and Grieving Adolescent
Type: Workshop
Location: Mulgrave, Victoria
Presenter: Angela Scuderi

Overview

“The sense of being alone and special leads adolescents to feel as though their grief is obvious to all, but no one could possibly understand how they feel” Marty Slyter (2012).

This workshop will consider loss and grief from the perspective and needs of grieving adolescents.  Young people have different needs to adults when they experience loss therefore family members/care givers/teachers and other significant others need to be sensitive to these needs. The workshop will explore the theoretical stages of adolescence and a range of support strategies that can be utlised to help grieving adolescents.

Designed for
