Webinar Overview
The presentation will describe the topography of traumatic grief in children, adolescents as well as adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). It will emphasize the need to screen for attachment, loss, separation and grief related regressions that may occur in individuals with IDD that may otherwise go unidentified. It will present clinical vignettes and interventions that align with them.
Presenter Bio
Dr. Kerim Munir is Director of Psychiatry in the University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) in the Division of Developmental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Oliver Wendell Holmes Society Fellow in Global Health, Harvard Medical School, Boston USA. He is the Principal Investigator of the Fogarty International Center Non-Communicative Diseases (NCD) Across the LIFESPAN Global Mental Health and Developmental Disorders; and the Fogarty International Center Research Bioethics initiatives funded by the National Institutes of Health promoting interdisciplinary research and education for postdoctoral/doctoral trainees at the intersection of developmental medicine, global mental health, public health as well as bioethics. He is the recipient of various national and international awards.

- Participants will learn about early identification of grief response in individuals with developmental disabilities
- Participants will learn how to distinguish normative v. traumatic grief response
- Participants will learn about the importance of screening for traumatic grief in individuals with developmental disabilities who present with unusual regressions, depression and unsafe behaviours

Cancellation and Refund Policy
The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.
Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs.
No registration refunds will be made after this date. Please note: The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
