Ageing, Ageism and Care: Exploring the Needs of Families and Elders.
Identify the unique needs and issues of an ageing population upon clinicians, health care, and families. This webinar will be beneficial for people who support elders and their families, both professionally and informally. 

Learning Outcomes:  
1. Develop awareness of demographic trends about ageing and their implications.
2. Understand how social attitudes about ageing affect care delivery and supports.
3. Explore the impact of ageing relatives on family systems.
4. Articulate the concerns and losses that are often felt by older individuals.
5. Examine the losses associated with ageing using current bereavement theory and practice.
6. Define the roles and responsibilities of professional caregivers who are involved with elder care.

Presenter Bio: 

Darcy L. Harris, R.N., R.S.W., Ph.D., FT, is an Associate Professor and the Thanatology Coordinator at King’s University College in London, Canada, where she also maintains a private clinical practice specialising in issues related to change, loss, and transition. She is also on faculty with the Portland Institute for Loss and Transition. She has served on the board of directors of the Association for Death Education and Counselling and is a current member of the International Work Group on Death, Dying, and Bereavement.

She is a series co-editor for Routledge’s Death, Dying, and Bereavement Series and she is an internationally-recognised speaker and author.  She has authored numerous articles, chapters, and books. Her most recent publications include Principles and Practice of Grief Counselling (Springer) and Non-Death Loss and Grief: Context and Clinical Implications (Routledge).

ACA Recognised Training

This webinar is an ACA recognised training. In order to qualify for OPD points with the ACA, participants must complete an online assessment within one-month of the live webinar date. The pass needed is 100%. Please note, any assessments submitted after this date will not qualify for a certificate. Certificates will only be generated for the person registered. 

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.

Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs.

No registration refunds will be made after this date. Please note: The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
