Webinar Overview:
The trauma and grief felt after mass violence and loss can leave survivors overwhelmed by horrifying images, guilt, anxiety and grief.  Survivors often feel desperate to find help to ease their pain and help support them through their darkest hour.  If not trained to address the combined distress of trauma and grief experienced after such loss, counsellors may also be left feeling anxious, frustrated and challenged without a clear intervention for support.

Laura Takacs, Clinical Director at Virginia Mason, Grief Services, Seattle, WA, will provide a 90 minute presentation on grief and trauma experienced after a mass loss.  Ms. Takacs will illustrate key components of Restorative Retelling, a therapeutic model that addresses both experiences after sudden, traumatic loss, including death.  Ms. Takacs will also demonstrate how this model assists survivors navigate their grief by allowing a space to process the sudden nature of the loss, honouring the life of a lost loved one, and helping to identify sources of support, including the deceased, which can assist clients in the integration of their loss.

To undertake this webinar, you should already have:
- An understanding of the impact of trauma and grief
- Understanding of trauma informed care
- An ability to self sooth when hearing experiences of clients

Learning Outcomes: at the conclusion of this webinar, participants should be able to:
