Webinar Overview

When children enter therapy because they have experienced a death of a loved one, they are at a very vulnerable time in their lives. They are often anxious about the therapeutic process and reluctant to talk directly about painful feelings. Activities that are creative and play-based can engage children and help them to express their thoughts and feelings. This webinar will present creative interventions for use with bereaved children ages 4-12. Activities will be presented for use in individual and group counselling. Participants will come away with many new and innovative techniques. 

Learning Outcomes

What can participants expect to have learned after attending this webinar:

  • Identify key risk factors for bereaved children
  • Assess bereaved children based on innovative, play-based model. 
  • Utilise at least five treatment techniques with bereaved children. 

Presenter Biography

Liana Lowenstein is a Registered Clinical Social Worker, Certified Play Therapist - Supervisor, and Certified TF-CBT Therapist who has been working with children and their families in Toronto since 1998. She presents trainings across North America and abroad. Recent speaking engagements include China, South Africa, Israel, England, New Zealand and Australia. She provides clinical supervision to mental health practitioners, and consults to mental health agencies. Liana's 12 books on child and family therapy are known internationally for their innovative and practical techniques. She is the winner of the Monica Herbert award for outstanding contribution to play therapy in Canada.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.

Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs.

No registration refunds will be made after this date. Please note: The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
