Does Help Really Help?

Does Help Really Help?

Webinar Overview

In this webinar Henk Schut will address the questions whether volunteer and professional help offered to bereaved people is really helpful. Additionally, he will challenge that improvements in terms of grief, mood or general functioning during grief intervention and even satisfaction of bereaved clients say little about the intervention being effective.

Henk will discuss ways in which we can more accurately and more correctly address and assess which kinds of help are indeed helpful for which bereaved people. Henk will illustrate his line of reasoning by a study he conducted and discuss the value, as well as the pitfalls and weaknesses and the complexity of such a way of working in daily practice.

Learning Outcomes

  1. To have developed a critical approach on grief intervention effects
  2. To appreciate the complexity of finding answers to whether help helps and not go for the easy answers
  3. To be able to more critically and constructively consider the value of collaboration between bereaved researches and people working in bereavement care
  4. To be able to challenge some of one's own assumptions about grief and bereavement care.
