Workshop Overview: Supporting and Communicating with the Bereaved in Partnership with the Cancer Council WA

Grief is our response to loss. It is the normal, natural and inevitable response to loss, and it can affect every part of our life, including our thoughts, behaviours, beliefs, feelings, physical health and our relationships with others.

This workshop is designed for anyone encountering bereaved people in their professional lives. It is helpful for anyone who wants to understand the issues surrounding bereavement and how to communicate with clients and customers after someone close to them has died.
 
Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Gain an overview of Grief and Loss theory
Learn how to communicate effectively and compassionately with bereaved people
Develop confidence talking about difficult and sensitive matters
Understand Self-care and its impact

Presenter Bio: Rosemary Watkins 

Rosemary is an experienced therapist, trainer and group facilitator who has worked with individuals, couples and families for over twenty three years.  She holds a Master’s degree in Human Services; has extensive training in Couples and Family Therapy, including a nationally accredited Graduate Diploma of Relationship Counselling; has a Cert IV in workplace training and assessment and is a registered clinical supervisor with PACFA and AAFT.

The main focuses of her practice are relationships, and loss and grief. Rosemary has provided training workshops for professionals in London, Ireland,  Singapore and The Netherlands in addition to tertiary and private settings in Perth. She also offers courses in Meditation/Mindfulness/Relaxation practices and runs Residential Workshop/Retreats for Therapists and other health professionals.

  • $340.00 for non members

*These prices will end two weeks before the date of the workshop. After this date the regular pricing will be applied.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.
Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs. 
No registration refunds will be made after this date. Please note: The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
