Prolonged grief is generally defined as intense grief which lasts for more than six months. This intense feeling of grief can have serious negative health consequences.

This workshop will provide an understanding of the presentation of PGD and to implement interventions to support those  with PGD. The workshop is aimed at practitioners who currently work within grief and bereavement counselling.

Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Understand the symptoms and clinical presentation of Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD)
Describe the proposed mechanisms thought to underpin PGD
Determine the differences and similarities between PGD, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder
Identify and implement tailored interventions designed specifically for treatment of PGD
