Workshop Overview: Expanding the Therapist Toolkit and Creative Interventions in Partnership with the Cancer Council WA

Grief has the capacity to affect an individual psychologically, physically, spiritually, cognitively and emotionally. Sometimes traditional ‘talk’ therapy is not enough. This workshop will provide you with an experiential sampling of different therapeutic interventions that you can use in your work with clients.

By experimenting in a safe learning environment with truly innovative approaches to grief and loss therapy, professionals will gain new-found confidence to experiment with different strategies that can then be added to their therapeutic toolkit. This will further help them to develop individualised programs for their clients; therefore, helping their clients to gain perspective on their loss and the ability to move forward with their grief journey.

Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Identify and describe a range of ‘non-traditional’ therapeutic interventions that may be useful when working with the bereaved.
Work in a more creative way with clients.
Work with increased confidence with clients using a broader range of interventions.
Develop an understanding of when and with which clients to implement different creative strategies.
