Workshop Overview:
Providing Effective Bereavement Support: Two Day Workshop

When working with the bereaved it is important to recognise and understand the broad range of grief reactions and responses. Grief counselling and support is a specialised area which requires responses and strategies which can be tailored to each individual’s needs. This workshop is designed for professionals wanting to broaden their understanding and deepen their knowledge of how to be in this space with the bereaved. Participants will identify and practise a range of skills and strategies appropriate for working with grieving people.

Learning Outcomes: at the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Be aware of common grief responses
Identify and describe some theoretical perspectives and useful models
Recognise the needs of grieving people
Identify and implement effective strategies to support grieving individuals
Practice providing effective bereavement support based on this learning.  We will draw on practice-based experience to make this workshop both relevant and practical. Participants are invited to bring de-identified case studies to the workshop.
