Workshop Overview: "How to facilitate a Bereavement Support Group" in Partnership with the Cancer Council WA

Leading a support group can be a rewarding and a positive growth experience, however, it can also be very challenging. Support groups are among the best and most popular approaches to empowering and connecting people. 

This workshop is designed for those working or intending to lead and facilitate support groups for those experiencing grief or loss.

Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Gain an overview of group work, theory and practice
Understand theories and practices that are useful when working with bereaved people
Develop skills in how to facilitate bereavement support groups though experimental learning 
Gain an understanding of how to screen, structure and evaluate the group process

Presenter: Rosemary Watkins

Rosemary is an experienced therapist, trainer and group facilitator who has worked with individuals, couples and families for over twenty three years.  She holds a Master’s degree in Human Services; has extensive training in Couples and Family Therapy, including a nationally accredited Graduate Diploma of Relationship Counselling; has a Cert IV in workplace training and assessment and is a registered clinical supervisor with PACFA and AAFT.

Rosemary is a member of the training team at the William Street Family Therapy Centre in Mount Lawley, Western Australia, providing training and supervision to the Graduate Diploma in Relationship Therapy trainees. See website: www.wsftc.com.au

The main focuses of her practice are relationships, and loss and grief. Rosemary has provided training workshops for professionals in London, Ireland,  Singapore and The Netherlands in addition to tertiary and private settings in Perth. She also offers courses in Meditation/Mindfulness/Relaxation practices and runs Residential Workshop/Retreats for Therapists and other health professionals.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement reserves the right to cancel education programs that do not achieve minimum participation, in which case all fees will be refunded.
Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing to the centre. Cancellations made more than thirty (30) days prior to the event date will be refunded less 25% of the registration fee to cover administration costs. 
No registration refunds will be made after this date. Please note: The full invoiced amount will still be payable in the event of non-attendance on the day.
