The
role of Director is to develop the Australian Centre
for Grief and Bereavement in accordance with the Strategic
Plan, to meet the Centre's stated mission, goals, objectives
and strategies and to continue the enhancement of the Centre's
reputation and professional standing
Christopher Hall, the Director of the Australian Centre
for Grief and Bereavement, is a psychologist who has developed
a specialisation in the field of grief and bereavement
over the past 20
years. Chris has trained many health and education professionals
in grief theory and interventions both in Australia and
overseas. He has a strong interest in child and adolescent
grief, traumatic and complex bereavement experiences and
the organisational impact of grief and loss. Chris is a
certified thanatologist (Death, Dying and Bereavement)
with the U.S. Association for Death Education and Counseling.
In 1999 he was elected to the International Work Group
on Death, Dying and Bereavement (IWG) and currently is
a board member of the organisation. Chris is also
an Honorary Fellow of
the Department
of Psychiatry,
University
of Melbourne.
Chris is also the Editor of the journal Grief Matters:
The Australian Journal of Grief and Bereavement and
chair of the organising and scientific committees for the
8th International Conference on Grief and Bereavement in
Contemporary Society which will be held in Melbourne in
July 2008.

As
Manager – Health Promotion and Education, Sally
is responsible for managing the education and training
activities
of the
Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement. This involves
managing the delivery of the Centre’s metropolitan,
regional, interstate and international educator programs
and
customized training and consultancy services.
Sally has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a teaching
degree coupled with her Diploma of Project Management and
her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Sally has
had 10 years experience in many facets of the education
industry, holding previous teaching roles at university,
TAFE and secondary schools. She has corporate experience
managing Learning and Development for a Recognised Training
Organisation and working as a Project Manager in Operational
Risk in the Financial Services sector. Sally spent two
years working as a self-employed consultant trainer and
instructional designer focusing on education and training
theory in schools
and teaching others in the Certificate IV and Diploma Training
and Assessment courses. Sally is also hoping to complete
her Master of Education in 2008.

Anne
Giljohann is currently the Manager of the Bereavement
Counselling & Support
Services at the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement
and has worked for a number of years as an educator in
Centre courses,
community education and customised training programs.
She
has extensive experience as a social worker in bereavement,
health and family settings, including ten years as a
counsellor/educator and manager at SIDS & Kids Victoria.
She has a particular interest in the diversity of supports
that assist bereaved people, including support groups,
self help programs, creative activities, natural social
networks, and specialised bereavement counselling. Her
thesis for her Master of Social Work related to understanding
what helps families following the sudden and unexpected
death of a young child. Anne is a NALAG (Vic) accredited
bereavement counsellor, counselling supervisor and educator. |

Rebecca is responsible for evaluating the training programs offered
by the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement. Rebecca
designs the detailed evaluation forms, identifying
learning outcomes and performance indicator measures
and evaluating participant feedback regarding relevance
of content of training at a personal and professional
level and extent of knowledge gained. Rebecca presents
her analysis in the form of reports that are utilised
by staff in program development as
well as forwarded to educators. Rebecca also
coordinates the production of the journal Grief
Matters: The Australian Journal of Grief and Bereavement. |

initiate referrals, matches clients to counsellors and
oversees client satisfaction reviews. Rae and Claire
implement and maintains client database systems, and
assists in
the marketing and operational maintenance of the service,
in liaison with the Manager of the Bereavement Counselling
and Support Service. |

Colin is the Senior Bereavement Counsellor & Support Groups Coordinator at the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement
- Bereavement Counselling and Support Service. Colin has worked for 20 years in the Child Protection field working as a Residential Worker, Child Protection Worker, Case Manager and Youth and Family Counsellor in both Government and Non-Government agencies. Prior to his work with ACGB Colin worked as a Youth and Family Counsellor with adolescents in the out of home care system. Colin's areas of interest include, child and adolescent and men's bereavement. |

Wendy
is a Senior Bereavement Counsellor/Supervision at Bereavement
Counselling and Support Services, Australian Centre for
Grief and Bereavement- Bereavement Counselling and Support Service. In this role she provides supervision
to Interns on placement, and to Practitioner Associates
who have completed their placements and continue to provide
bereavement counselling in a voluntary capacity. The
Senior Bereavement Counsellor also organises professional
development sessions for Interns, Volunteers and Practitioner
Associates, and case presentation evenings for Interns
and Practitioner Associates. Supervision is provided, face
to face at the centre; and mainly over the phone for Interns
on placement in regional Victoria, with the assurance of
at least one visit on site during the duration of the placement. Wendy
has a background in teaching. She furthered her education
at LaTrobe University, completing a Grad.Dip. of Counselling
and Human Services. She then specialised in Bereavement Counselling,
obtaining a Grad.Dip. of Bereavement Counselling. She has
continued to study over the years focusing more recently
on Gestalt Therapy and Clinical Supervision. |

Vivienne Bateman is a social worker who has worked in the field of grief and trauma for over fifteen years. During that time, Vivienne has provided crisis intervention, counselling and support for many bereaved family members following motor vehicle collisions, homicide, drowning, SIDS, sudden illness, fire and other sudden and traumatic deaths. Vivienne has also worked within the palliative care field and with Vietnam Veterans. In her managerial and community education roles at SIDS and Kids Victoria and the Road Trauma Support Team Victoria, Vivienne has provided supervision and support for counselling staff and volunteers, education sessions about grief and trauma, liaised with many emergency responders and health care professionals, and written and provided training programs for volunteer peer supporters.
Vivienne is responsible for setting up, resourcing and coordinating the two Toll Free Telephone Services- the Bereavement Information and Referral Service and the Practitioners Consultancy Services.

As the Community Outreach Services (COS) Co-ordinator, Annie is responsible for the program development and ongoing management of the services. The COS provides counselling for people who are unable to access an office-based services and need to be seen in their own environment. Annie is a Registered Nurse, Couple and Family Therapist and a NALAG accredited Bereavement Counsellor with over thirty years expereince in the health field. She is also in Private Practice, an educator and provides supervision. Annie is very interested in groupwork and co-facilitates a Bereavement Support Group for people who are bereaved through the death of a parent. She is currently undertaking studies in Social Work.
